About
Jeremy Phelps,
MA, LCPC
Licensed counselor serving Crystal Lake and McHenry County. In-person and telehealth.

I'm Jeremy Phelps, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and the owner of Telos Counseling. I work with teens and adults out of an office in Crystal Lake, with telehealth available across Illinois.
I strive to create a space where you can be authentic, brave, and vulnerable. This starts with offering respect, empathy, and nonjudgmental support. We are often told we must be perfect, hide our struggles, and never show weakness. But I believe the bravest thing you can do is share your story, and it is a profound privilege when clients trust me with theirs.
Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, addiction, or some combination, I am here to walk alongside you. You already have the capacity within you to create positive change. My role is to help you find your unique path to healing, strength, and fulfillment.
My path to this field emerged through my own journey of healing and self-discovery. Like many, I spent years trying to find my purpose, working in corporate management before realizing my true passion was helping people navigate life's challenges.
Through my own obstacles, I've learned how essential it is to have a safe space to process the fears, doubts, and insecurities we all carry. I've learned firsthand that it is entirely okay to not be okay.
In addition to being a therapist, I am a husband, a father of two daughters, and someone doing my best each day.

Approach
Five modalities, used where they fit.
Therapy is not a script. Different people need different tools, and different problems respond to different approaches. These are the frameworks I lean on most.
- CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Identifying the thought patterns that drive how you feel and act, and working to shift the ones that are not serving you.
- DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Concrete skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and staying in relationships without losing yourself.
- ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Accepting what cannot be changed, committing to what matters, and acting in line with your own values rather than against them.
- CPT
Cognitive Processing Therapy
An evidence-based approach for working through traumatic experiences and the beliefs that got built up around them.
- PCT
Person-Centered Therapy
The grounding frame across everything: respect, empathy, and trust that the client is the expert on their own life.
